EXTERNSHIPS and MENTORSHIPS
Our mission is to provide high-quality educational opportunities in clinical veterinary medicine.
At Western Edge Veterinary Center the externship experience offers a comprehensive exposure to our extensive caseload. Interaction with Dr. Harris allows students to learn about hospital care policies, some interaction with clients and procedures.
We strive to provide qualified applicants with the opportunity to reinforce, extend, and refine their clinical skills and enhance their diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities.
As a private clinic the amount of actual "hands-on" experience is limited. However, there is an enormous amount of information to be gained by observation and exposure.
On-site housing is provided at no cost to the student.
Out of town arrivals should know:
- Dress code:
Nice scrubs are acceptable
NO shorts, sandals, flip flops, sleeveless shirts or tank tops, or T-shirts.
Jeans (no holes) or Khaki’s
Coveralls and boots (as needed)
- Lodging: Living quarters in clinic (Please bring your own towels)
- Meals: Microwave, hot plate, and small refrigerator in kitchenette.
Grocery Store, convenience stores and several restaurants in town. (Pamphlet provided at clinic)
